Use CGPA to Percentage for estimates based on documented grading rules.
A common illustrative conversion multiplies CGPA by a selected factor, such as 9.5, but not every institution recognizes that factor. This calculator allows the factor to be changed deliberately. It does not infer an official equivalence from the CGPA alone; check the applicable conversion notice before submitting the result.
Use the grade points your university assigns—not the letter grade or raw mark. Leave courses out if they do not count toward GPA under your regulations.
Enter each term's SGPA/GPA plus its total GPA-counted credits. This assumes credit-weighted averaging is permitted by your university.
Assumes future courses add GPA-counted credits and earlier grades remain unchanged. Check exclusions, retake rules and rounding with your institution.
Looking for an institution-specific tool? See VIT CGPA Calculator, VTU CGPA Calculator, or the complete University CGPA Calculators. Results shown here are not automatically equivalent to any named university's policy.
Enter your CGPA and the conversion factor prescribed by the receiving institution.
Choose the tool that matches the question you actually need to answer. Each page focuses on a distinct calculation or conversion task, so you can avoid applying the wrong formula to your grade card. CGPA to Percentage requires validated academic inputs.

This is a common academic formula, not a universal conversion rule. Your institution may exclude certain courses, treat repeated courses differently, or define a different reporting method. Always consult the current scheme and final grade sheet. CGPA to Percentage cannot replace an official transcript.
Suppose a semester includes these four grade-point results. Multiply each grade point by the corresponding credits before calculating the average. CGPA to Percentage depends on the grading policy.
| Subject | Credits | Points | Weighted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 4 | 9 | 36 |
| Physics | 3 | 8 | 24 |
| Computing | 3 | 9 | 27 |
| Laboratory | 2 | 10 | 20 |

Different academic questions call for different inputs. Use the category that best fits your grade card, degree program, country or objective. These sections also bring related guides and worked examples together. CGPA to Percentage makes the calculation easier to review.
Universities can differ in letter-grade mappings, credit rules, programme regulations, pass thresholds and percentage conversions. Start with the named tool where available, then verify the regulations that apply to your admission year and programme. A page title alone does not establish official approval or a universal conversion formula. CGPA to Percentage requires validated academic inputs.
Before entering marks or choosing grade points, confirm your institution's current academic rules. That one step prevents many calculation errors and misleading percentage conversions. CGPA to Percentage supports an independent estimate.
Check whether your school or university reports a 10-point, 4-point, 5-point or custom scale. Select the matching maximum in the calculator. Grades on different scales are not interchangeable without policy. CGPA to Percentage cannot replace an official transcript.
Read the transcript or semester grade card for each course's eligible credits and the corresponding grade-point value. Do not type percentage marks into a grade-point field. CGPA to Percentage depends on the grading policy.
For one semester, add course credits and points. For an overall CGPA, enter semester GPA values with the credits counted in each term. Exclude courses only when the official rules say to do so. CGPA to Percentage makes the calculation easier to review.
The tool calculates weighted points and divides by total eligible credits. Review the unrounded logic if you are close to a scholarship, promotion or placement cutoff. CGPA to Percentage requires validated academic inputs.
Use Target CGPA mode to ask what average you would need across planned future credits. A requirement above the maximum grading scale means the goal cannot be reached under those assumptions. CGPA to Percentage supports an independent estimate.
Compare your planning number with official academic regulations and marksheets. A calculator is helpful for estimation, but it does not replace a grade card issued by the university. CGPA to Percentage cannot replace an official transcript.
Converting CGPA into percentage is not a universal mathematical identity. Universities, school boards and recruiters can prescribe different conversion factors and offsets. The same reported CGPA may produce different percentages under different published policies. Begin by identifying the authority that will accept or issue the converted value. CGPA to Percentage depends on the grading policy.
If a valid policy explicitly says percentage equals CGPA multiplied by 9.5, a CGPA of eight becomes seventy-six percent. That arithmetic is simple; the difficult part is confirming that the policy actually governs your record. Never adopt 9.5 automatically simply because it appears in search results. CGPA to Percentage makes the calculation easier to review.
Some institutions use a formula with subtraction or another adjustment before or after multiplication. For example, a policy might define a percentage as a specified factor times a CGPA minus a defined constant. In such cases, entering only the factor would give the wrong answer. Consult the actual instructions. CGPA to Percentage requires validated academic inputs.
An online conversion is a calculation performed from the supplied CGPA and chosen factor. An official conversion certificate is a document issued or recognized by an authorized institution. Employers and admissions offices may require the certificate rather than the result displayed on a website. CGPA to Percentage supports an independent estimate.
Know whether your CGPA is on a ten-point, four-point or other scale. Multiplying a four-point GPA by a factor intended for a ten-point CGPA is inappropriate. If your university uses a four-point system, seek its accepted equivalence table or conversion guidance instead of assuming a straightforward proportion. CGPA to Percentage cannot replace an official transcript.
A basic multiplication formula can exceed one hundred for some factor and grade combinations. The calculator reports the arithmetic honestly and warns about policy interpretation. Do not silently cap or round an implausible result into a claimed official percentage. First confirm the formula and input scale. CGPA to Percentage depends on the grading policy.
Students often need to show a percentage on a scholarship form, graduate application, job portal or admission document. However, there is no single factor that converts every CGPA into a valid percentage for every university. Some institutions publish equations, some use grade-range tables, and others require an official conversion certificate. CGPA to Percentage makes the calculation easier to review.
For that reason, our CGPA to Percentage page explains the importance of the relevant university rule. You can also explore a CGPA to Percentage Chart, the Percentage to CGPA Calculator, and the comparison CGPA vs Percentage. Each conversion should be interpreted as a method subject to its own assumptions.
A familiar 9.5 multiplier has been used in some Indian school-reporting contexts. It is not a universal rule for university CGPA, and it should not be applied blindly to VTU, VIT, AKTU, KTU, Anna University or other institutions. Use the formula listed in your programme's applicable handbook instead. For background, see CBSE CGPA Conversion History and How to Convert CGPA to Percentage in India.

Academic improvement depends on both performance and the number of credits still available. An increase from 7.0 to 8.0 may be practical early in a degree but much harder near graduation, when completed credits already account for most of the cumulative average. CGPA to Percentage requires validated academic inputs.
For a simple illustration, assume you have a 7.40 CGPA after 100 credits, wish to finish with 8.00, and plan to take another 40 credits. Your existing weighted points are 740. A final 8.00 across 140 credits needs 1,120 weighted points, so the final 40 credits must contribute 380 points. The required future grade average is therefore 9.50 / 10. CGPA to Percentage supports an independent estimate.
Institutions can differ in whether they round grade points before conversion, round only the final percentage or retain several decimal places. A difference of a fraction of a percent may matter at a cutoff. Use the explicit rounding rule from the accepting authority rather than choosing whichever result looks more favorable. CGPA to Percentage cannot replace an official transcript.
Rules published for a school board do not automatically apply to university GPAs. Likewise, a formula used by one university may not apply to a neighboring institution. Confirm whether the authority refers to programme, admission year, examination year or a particular regulation before using its formula. CGPA to Percentage depends on the grading policy.
CGPA usually means Cumulative Grade Point Average. It represents eligible performance across multiple courses or terms using the weighting method specified by the institution. It is not automatically a percentage.
Choose the correct grading scale, enter grade points and their credits, then divide total weighted grade points by total eligible credits. If you already have semester GPA figures, supply the GPA and counted credits for each semester.
No. SGPA typically represents one semester. CGPA typically covers more than one term or all eligible work completed to date. The precise reporting method may differ by university.
Only when semester credits are equal or your university explicitly permits that approach. Otherwise, a credit-weighted average of term results is generally required.
No. It is not a universal rule. Use the published conversion policy or certificate applicable to your university, programme and batch.
Use the Target CGPA tab above and enter current CGPA, credits already completed, the desired final result and planned future credits. It will show the average grade points needed across those credits.
It depends on university regulations. Some systems include failed grades, some count only completed credits and some replace grades after a retake. Check the current applicable policy.
Convert the letter grade to the official grade-point value first. Different institutions assign different points to the same letter, so do not assume A means a particular number everywhere.
This embedded homepage calculator performs its arithmetic in your browser and does not intentionally send input values to a server. The website may still use ordinary analytics, cookies or other scripts described in its privacy policy.
Only if the relevant grading policy provides a valid marks-to-grade or percentage-to-CGPA mapping. A percentage does not identify a unique grade point on every academic scale.
This page displays values to two decimal places for readability. Universities can use different internal precision, rounding or truncation rules. Refer to the official grade report.
Choose the university-specific calculator for your institution if the correct regulation is available. Otherwise, use the generic calculator with the grade points and credit scheme provided on your transcript.
Only if it is valid under your institution or application requirements. When uncertain, showing your original CGPA with its scale is often clearer than an unsupported conversion.

Academic calculations are most useful when input can be traced to a grade report. Record course names, the grading scale and the source of any conversion instruction before you submit a result. Academic records and context both matter.
Check carefully.
